Shiv-Anand (Alain Hervé) was born in France in 1955, where he attended the Ballet School of the Opera de Paris. As a teenager, he moved to Montreal with his parents, where the facts of life awakened his compassion for suffering people. Wanting to contribute to progress, he considered a scientific career and graduated from McGill University with a degree in biology. After he became aware that human well-being needs more than a materialistic understanding of reality, he obtained a doctorate in acupuncture, which opened his mind to the holistic worldview and the metaphysical dimensions of human beings.
The holistic paradigm led him to explore the mind and diet as sources of diseases. He developed a comprehensive vegetarian cooking course to promote health and non-violence. He also practiced Rebirthing Breathwork, and when he felt ready to share the technique with others, he qualified as a practitioner with its founder, Leonard Orr. He later experienced Sudarshan Kriya, a similar technique brought to the West by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
Since there can be no permanent health and happiness without a satisfying spiritual life, he became a certified Hatha and Raja yoga teacher at Satchidananda Ashram-Yogaville, where he also worked as a graphic designer and translator. There, he had the opportunity to follow many workshops and got certificates in "Therapeutic Yoga" and "Yoga & Ayurveda."
However, he came to realize that classical yoga, despite its commercial success, has questionable results. He now wishes to serve the Great Goddess by spreading the more life-affirming Tantric and Taoist approach. He is not a follower of Master Osho, but he appreciates his teachings, whose breadth and depth can bring both self-actualization and Self-realization, as well as create beauty and love on the planet.
After retirement, he enrolled at the University of Metaphysical Sciences, whose teachings and encouragements prompted him to create this site. He humbly wishes to share the fruits of his 50 years of experience as a seeker of truth, hoping to make a positive contribution to New Age spirituality.
Alongside these studies, he has developed a deep connection with Lalita Tripura Sundari, the principal Tantric Goddess, and he would be honored to spread Her promise of permanent bliss in love and light.
